A coffee from the poop? Really? What kind of luxury is that?! \u2013 you think. For most of the people, an idea of drinking something what was excreted by some animal seems to be not only crazy, but also disgusting. Well, I believe that sometimes you need to give a shot to the weirdest things, just to change your mindset a bit.

Kopi Luwak\u00a0is known as the world\u2019s most expensive coffee. It\u2019s produced from the coffee beans, which have been digested by an Indonesian animal called a palm civet or simply a civet cat.<\/p>\n

Coffee beans contain caffeine what doesn\u2019t stop cats from eating them. During the digestion process the coffee cherries and the pulp are removed, whereas coffee beans are not.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a fermentation process that is responsible for a special flavor of this coffee.<\/p>\n

Hey, but why is it so expensive? \u2013 you wonder. Well, the reason of the extreme price is a production method. When I have asked one girl who has been working on the coffee plantation, she told me that finding a civet poop wasn\u2019t very easy. You need to spend a lot of time in the forest to find it and collect a proper amount. The time is costly \u2013 we all know that.<\/p>\n

In the next steps the coffee beans are washed, dried, and roasted.<\/p>\n

This coffee can be brewed like any other type of coffee. Because of its unique flavor it is recommended to drink it without a sugar, milk or any additional ingredient.<\/p>\n

I had my chance to try this coffee in Ubud, Bali. There is a very nice coffee plantation where you can see how Kopi Luwak is produced and you can also try it. The price for one cup is definitely encouraging. It costs 5$, what is very low in comparison with the prices in a regular coffee shop that may reach even 100$ per cup (the price for 500g is up to 600$). This argument was good enough for me to give a shot and try this famous coffee.<\/p>\n

What was my impression? It tastes like any other coffee; it\u2019s a bit strong and nicely flavored. I need to admit that I liked it. To be honest, I didn\u2019t feel any difference if someone wouldn\u2019t tell me what I drink.
