It was built between 1632 and 1653, next to\u00a0the Yamuna river in Agra, (<a href=\"https:\/\/keepfit.godziolink.site\/2016\/12\/12\/one-day-agra\/\"><strong>read more<\/strong><\/a> about what to do in Agra) in the memory of beloved wife Mumtaaz of Emperor Shah Jahan.<\/p>\n<p>From the 1983 it is recognized as UNESCO\u00a0World Heritage and attracts around\u00a07\u20138 million visitors a year.\u00a0It is definitely one of the most impressive monuments in the world. It symbolizes the purity, love and pain. The Taj Mahal\u2019s fascinating history hides many secrets that you have probably never heard about:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Taj Mahal is a tomb. \u00a0The Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, commissioned to build the Taj Mahal when\u00a0his third (and favorite) wife, Mumtaz Mahal died in 1631. Mumtaz Mahal died giving birth to the fourteenth child of the emperor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2886\" src=\"https:\/\/keepfit.godziolink.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Zrzut-ekranu-2016-12-09-15.09.16.png\" alt=\"zrzut-ekranu-2016-12-09-15-09-16\" width=\"788\" height=\"590\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>It took 22 years and 22,000 people to build this structure. The Taj Mahal was completed in 1653. Unfortunately\u00a0the emperor Shah Jahan was not there to see it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>The\u00a0architect\u00a0behind this piece of architecture was\u00a0Ahmed Lahauri.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>The Taj Mahal is constructed only with white marble, brought from\u00a0Rajasthan (North India), Afghanistan, Tibet and China.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2937\" src=\"https:\/\/keepfit.godziolink.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P3235233hanna-kantor-1.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>The Taj Mahal appears pink in the morning, white in the day and changes its color to golden in the moonlight.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Another Taj Mahal was supposed to be built in black marble instead of white. The base of it still can be seen across the river.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2940\" src=\"https:\/\/keepfit.godziolink.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P3235264hanna-kantor-1.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Over 1,000 elephants were used to transport building materials during the construction of the Taj Mahal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>28 types of precious and semi-precious stones were inlaid into the white marble that was used to construct this building.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2938\" src=\"https:\/\/keepfit.godziolink.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P3235237hanna-kantor-1.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>The Taj Mahal is perfectly symmetrical in every way, except for one thing: the two tombs inside are not equal in size. It\u2019s because the male tomb had to be larger than the female tomb.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>The Taj Mahal cost about 32 million RS, which in today&#8217;s money would probably exceed $1 billion!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2939\" src=\"https:\/\/keepfit.godziolink.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P3235252hanna-kantor-1.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li>The emperor Shah Jahan ordered every worker\u2019s hand chopped off immediately after construction, so that no one could ever recreate the Taj Mahal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>Despite being the creation of a Moghul king, the architecture of the Taj Mahal was globally inspired.
